It has come to my attention this week that Men, in fact, detest Maxi Dresses! Who knew?! I heard rumblings of this and confirmed it with an actual, real-life boy. I won’t quote him exactly, but he did compare the garment to something a certain type of person who may or may not have gold teeth would wear. I was like: “Kelis wears Maxis?!” …Anywho, there is an interesting article on the fashion that men hate in the Daily Mail today *and I found myself thinking (<- *B and I are saying that about everything this week in an homage to/piss take of Carrie Bradshaw) what else do they hate?! So I’ve done my research and here it is ladies; the list of things we wear that men don’t like!!
UGGS: No sh*t Sherlock, you’re preaching to the converted here.
HAREM PANTS: As much as I have a couple pairs…you couldn’t really argue with this one, could you?!
JUMPSUITS: HOW VERY DARE YOU INSULT A STYLEBITCHES STAPLE!! You’re sleeping on the couch…that’ll learn ye.
GLADIATOR SANDALS: Aparently they make us look short and like our feet must hurt badly. Thank you Gok Wan, we’ll worry about that ourselves.
PINK!: I know, right? What’s wrong with pink now?? Now you’re just getting on me nerves!!
BIG SUNGLASSES: Really?!
NEON: Fair ’nuff I s’pose.
JEGGINGS: You have a problem with really, really tight pants on a girl?? Riiiiiight.
ANYTHING RIHANNA WEARS: It would appear that she’s not ‘feminine’ enough and looks like she’d be super hard work. You bleedin’ WISH in fairness!!!
LEG WARMERS: Understandable.
I think I mentioned before that my brother hates pointy shoes and long/painted nails. Is there anything that your other half/male friends hate that we all seem to love? And would the fact that your fella hates something deter you from wearing it? I know we’re all quick to say “Hell no! I dress for me!” …but I’m going away with himself this weekend and I have to tell you, the chances of a maxi being packed in the case have just seriously decreased …by about 100% say?!
Do the talky talky thing!

AFTER ASKIN THE LADS AROUND ME, THEY SAY THE MAXI DRESS THING IS BCOZ THEY CAN’T SEE OUR BODIES HAHA!! VERY MISLEADIN AS IT’S HIDING THE LUMPS & BUMPS (CHEEKY F*&KER’S HAHA)
THEY SAY THEY LOOK GOOD ON US, THE LIKE THEM, BUT JUS VERY MISLEADIN AS TO WOT A GIRLS SHAPE REALLY IS….
Oh i agree with gladiator sandals and i’m not really into maxi dresses either, why hide my best feature lol.
Me Ger hates maxi dresses and anything stripy or puffy but regardless i wear what i like
it’s taken 4 years but i’ve finally got my fella to understand the difference between an outfit I’d wear for him, versus an outfit I’d wear going out with the girls.. case in point, wearing me harem pants..himself ‘very stylish, but you’d only wear them out with the girls right?’…If they had their way we’d all be dressed in pwetty dwesses…feck them.
I wore a maxi to a kids birthday party last week n my boyfriend told me i should wear them more often! I was expectin him to say it was rotten
I really like Maxi Dresses and Jumpsuits. I think Harem Pants can be a tough one to pull off and SOME Gladaitor Sandals are ridiculous.
Thanks for the male input Daverson! *puts maxi back in suitcase*
The right maxi is REALLY flattering on a girl. It gives a great idea of their shape but also adds movement and colour and doesn’t cling in an unflattering way.
the only one i have HUGE issue with is UGGS becuase they’re everywhere and are an eyesore but i get the comfort factor.
really not feeling leggings as trousers either, just really unsightly.
but having said that wear what you feckin’ want ladies. who gives a shit what some feller thinks?
Surely it depends on the fella? I tried to get an old boyfriend into a cardigan and he point blank refused, but then he wouldn’t even roll up his shirt sleeves oh so casually, because he thought he was ‘a bit gay’
I know another guy who chatted my friend up on the basis of how cute her feet looked like in her gladiator sandals - her face isn’t bad either by the way….
for because he thought he was ‘a bit gay’
please replace with
because he thought it looked ‘a bit gay’
cue hundreds of proposals of marriage for Conor…
OMG my boyfriend loves maxi dresses but I’m too short to wear them. He also loves gladiator sandals. I hate when guys wear baby slings (with babies in them).
I was having a maxi dress debate in my head this past while actually! I couldn’t decide should I go for one or not. Then I came on here and in big screaming letters I see “Manky Maxis” Decision made ladies and gents. No maxi for me
My boyfriend did the old “you look better without make-up thing”, after 2 years I’ve heard it a bit now and took it as a compliment - however yesterday he added “Make-up makes you look about 5 years older and it looks weird when I’m really close to your face.. I actually hate when you wear it”.. I’d usually listen to him if he tells me that an outfit doesn’t look the greatest, unless he’s obviously wrong but there isn’t a hope in hell of me not wearing make-up! jesus! I only wear a light foundation, mascara and blusher during the day anyway!
I am one of these people who wears what I want for me BUT If my hubby told me he didnt like something I wore for a genuine reason. Last year I took it upon myself to cut my lovely long curly brown locks off and bleach my short hair blonde my lovely hubby adored me but I noticed a certain aspect of our marriage had been less frequent so when I asked him he very shyly explained that the blonde hair was a bit of a turn off but he didnt think he had a right to say anything because it was my hair. Needless to say I hotfooted it to the hairdressers
harem pants? Who in their right mind would wear them anyway???? I have to agree with half the list up there too! I think it has more to do with the way you wear it though. I mean if u can carry it off with confidence then surely a guy will find it attractive and if not then who gives a fuck ha ha! The day I start dressing for someone other than myself is time to worry!
Apparently guys in general hates long painted nails. I think it scares them.
My best friend is a guy and it comes in so handy when i’m unsure of a new trend. he’s always honest… it’s like being in the mind of a man! when i’m going out i often hold up two outfits, he doesn’t know anything about style but he can tell me which one men will like more (usually short, tight and black!)
he agrees with all of the above, except jeggings which he thinks are hot!
